  3.                       To the KWIKSTAT Tutorial, EXAMPLE 1
  4.      
  5.      Suppose you created three electromagnets made of three
  6.      different kinds of wire -- Small, Medium and Large gauge. You
  7.      tested each magnet to see how many nails it would pick up. You 
  8.      want a BAR CHART to show your results.
  9.      
  10.          YOUR  DATA IS...           1-2-3 steps to CREATE a BAR CHART:

  12.        MAGNET      NAILS            1. Create a NEW database
  13.       ----------   ---------        2. Enter the data
  14.        SMALL         31             3. Select the graph to display
  15.        MEDIUM        38

  18.      STEP 1: From the "FILE" pull-down menu, choose New Database. You are
  19.      asked to enter the name for your new database. Enter a name, like
  20.      "MAGNETS", of up to 8 characters. (No blanks in the name.)
  21.      
  22.      Choose the database type from a list of pre-defined databases, or you
  23.      can create a custom database. To create a BAR CHART, choose the SIMPLE
  24.      BAR CHART option.
  25.      
  26.      STEP 2: ENTER DATA - This is where you enter your results of your
  27.      experiment -- the data entry screen. Enter the data for the first
  28.      magnet as record 1.
  29.      
  30.      Your first Label is SMALL (small wire)
  31.      Your first Value is 31 (number of nails)
  32.      
  33.      Type SMALL (press Enter), type 31 (Press Enter), then enter the
  34.      numbers for records 2 and 3. Press F7 (Exit) to end entry.

  36.      STEP 3: CHOOSE WHAT GRAPH TO USE: For this example, choose the
  37.      Graph from the ANALYZE pull-down menu, then choose the Bar Graph
  38.      option.

  40.      NOTE: Once the graph is displayed, you can use the menu at the top of
  41.      the screen to change colors, patterns, titles, and so on for each
  42.      graph.

  44.      KWIKSTAT allows you to create these kinds of graphs:
  45.      
  46.          o Bar Chart, Pie Chart, Line Chart, Area Chart
  47.          o Histogram, Box and Whiskers, Normal Curve
  48.          o Cumulative Distribution, Stem and Leaf Plot
  49.          o X-Y Scatterplot
